"I am pleased to support Paul Chapman in his candidacy for Nanaimo City Council.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of working alongside Paul through our shared involvement in environmental stewardship and conservation efforts across the region.
As Executive Director of the Nanaimo Area Land Trust, Paul was a valued partner in the successful campaign to protect Hamilton Marsh, one of the most significant conservation initiatives on Central Vancouver Island.
I have also come to know him through the broader network of community organizations that make up the Mid Island Stewardship Caucus.
While Paul may not be the loudest voice in the room, he is often one of the most thoughtful, strategic, and effective.
He has a remarkable ability to bring people together around a common goal. He listens carefully, communicates clearly, and approaches challenges with intelligence, humour, and a genuine respect for differing perspectives.
Paul has earned the respect of countless community organizations, government representatives, volunteers, and citizens. His reputation is built on integrity, sound judgment, and a commitment to finding practical solutions.
He understands that meaningful progress happens when people work together, and he has consistently demonstrated that approach throughout his career.
Nanaimo would be well served by having someone of Paul’s calibre at the council table.
He is thoughtful without being rigid, principled without being partisan, and practical without losing sight of the bigger picture. Most importantly, he cares deeply about the community and the people who call it home.
I have every confidence that Paul would bring the same dedication, professionalism, and collaborative spirit to City Council that he has demonstrated throughout his career."
